SUMMARY:VALA Eastside Presents: Somatic Ekphrasis Workshop with Kari Tai
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, Redmond Association of Spokenword (RASP) board member Kari Tai will guide participants in creating a “somatic ekphrasis”–style verbal response to works in VALA Eastside’s current exhibit\, “Art from the Founder’s Collection.” The focus is on the bodily\, visceral\, and physical experience of engaging with art—translating visual\, tactile\, and emotional sensations into language. No prior writing or movement experience is required. \nThis event is free and open to everyone. Please join us! \nAbout VALA Eastside \nVenues for Artists in the Local Area (VALA Eastside) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization based in Redmond\, WA\, committed to connecting artists to artists\, artists to the community\, and the community to art. \nClick here for more info

SUMMARY:The Grown-Ups
DESCRIPTION:Coming soon to a campfire near you: \nWelcome to Camp Indigo Woods! (The alumni aren’t thrilled about the name change\, but it’s really way more ~ inclusive ~ this way!) The campers are all finally asleep\, and the lake is getting quiet. Crack a cold one\, make a s’more\, tell a scary story. Figure out what you’re going to have to do in the morning to keep camp fun and safe without letting the kids find out about… well\, you’ve seen the news. \nFollowing a group of camp counselors trying to mold the leaders of tomorrow when tomorrow is looking bleaker and bleaker\, The Grown-Ups explores the traditions that change us\, what it takes for us to change them\, and how to change yourself when you’re hopelessly\, tragically not prepared for this. \nTouring parks and secret pop-up locations in the Puget Sound area\, choose between real-fire and theatrical-fire options\, and bring a blanket or camp chair. \nThe Redmond performance of The Grown-Ups will take place in a backyard Summer Stage in Redmond\, two minutes from The Goddard School of Redmond. \nTicket info and more information can be found here: https://events.humanitix.com/the-grown-ups-redmond \nThe address will be sent upon the purchase of tickets.
