SUMMARY:Saturday Speaker Series — From Southern Accents to Catering and Pomegranate Bistro: A Chef's Journey in Redmond
DESCRIPTION:Photo: Southern Accents\, 1984\, Redmond\, WA \nJoin the Redmond Historical Society for our second Saturday Speaker Series program of 2026. Local chef and cookbook author Lisa Dupar presents “From Southern Accents to Catering and Pomegranate Bistro: A Chef’s Journey in Redmond”! \nThis presentation showcases the story of Chef Lisa Dupar’s culinary and entrepreneurial journey in Redmond\, which began in 1984. With the opening of her first restaurant\, Southern Accents\, Lisa brought the warmth and flavors of her Southern heritage to town. Her passion for hospitality and comforting dishes quickly earned her a loyal following\, and she expanded into event catering. As her client list and family grew\, Lisa sold her restaurant to focus solely on Lisa Dupar Catering. In 2005\, she poured her love for community and having a “culinary playground” into opening a second restaurant\, Pomegranate Bistro\, which offers a welcoming space where friends gather over Southern dishes and Pacific Northwest fare. Lisa’s journey reflects a lifelong commitment to flavor\, hospitality\, and creating memorable experiences that bring people together. \nThis program will be recorded. Members attend for free with a suggested donation of $5 for non-members. This community event is open to everyone.

SUMMARY:Aussies & Kiwis in Seattle - Cuppa and Chat (Redmond)
DESCRIPTION:Friendship and support for women living “away from home”. \nLadies\, whether you are new to Seattle or have been here for a while and just want to have a coffee with some friendly faces\, come down for a cuppa and a chat with other Seattle-based Aussie and Kiwi women. \nA throwback to the days when you just popped in on your neighbour without an appointment to share a quick cuppa and a piece of homemade shortbread (sigh!)\, these catch-ups are extremely relaxed and judgement-free. (If you’re still in your PJs with last night’s tacos on your top\, no worries!) This is an opportunity for you to meet\, chat\, laugh (and cry!) with other women who understand what you are going through and can offer friendship\, support\, advice\, and encouragement. \nMake sure you register to let us know you are coming and to get monthly event reminders. \nWe look forward to seeing you. Just look out for the flags on the table or ask your server to direct you.
