The program will feature work by John Charles Olmsted and his associates in the Pacific Northwest, beginning in 1903. Seattle, Portland, Spokane, Olympia and Victoria all have significant Olmsted Brothers landscapes available to explore.
The program will finish with a visual tour of Seattle’s historic Olmsted Brothers-planned Park & Boulevard system, incorporating period images and narrated almost entirely with excerpts from John Charles Olmsted’s original correspondence and his 1903 Comprehensive Plan Report to the Board of Park Commissioners. Seattle has, and continues to build on, one of the most complete, intact public Olmsted landscape legacies in the country.
