SUMMARY:Aussies & Kiwis in Seattle - Cuppa and Chat (Redmond)
DESCRIPTION:Friendship and support for women living “away from home”. \nLadies\, whether you are new to Seattle or have been here for a while and just want to have a coffee with some friendly faces\, come down for a cuppa and a chat with other Seattle-based Aussie and Kiwi women. \nA throwback to the days when you just popped in on your neighbour without an appointment to share a quick cuppa and a piece of homemade shortbread (sigh!)\, these catch-ups are extremely relaxed and judgement-free. (If you’re still in your PJs with last night’s tacos on your top\, no worries!) This is an opportunity for you to meet\, chat\, laugh (and cry!) with other women who understand what you are going through and can offer friendship\, support\, advice\, and encouragement. \nMake sure you register to let us know you are coming and to get monthly event reminders. \nWe look forward to seeing you. Just look out for the flags on the table or ask your server to direct you.

SUMMARY:Saturday Speaker Series — Murder at Avondale: Joseph Cicero\, August 21\, 1895
DESCRIPTION:On April 11th\, join the Redmond Historical Society for a tale of “true crime” in Redmond–130 years later! \nOn August 21\, 1895\, Joseph Cicero was killed on Avondale Road just south of NE 116th Street. This event was discovered by historian Dean Jowers while researching the Society’s archives. Information was gathered from newspaper articles\, court records\, and property tax rolls. Working together with Tom Hitzroth\, a story of the murder unfolded. Tom will recount how two once-friendly neighboring families became enemies. He will go into detail about the day of the killing. Following that\, Tom will touch on the complexity of the trials and the ramifications of the death to both families. Dean will answer questions after the talk. \nDoors open at 10:00 AM. This program is free to RHS members with a suggested donation of $5 for non-members. This program will be recorded.

SUMMARY:Shrek Jr.
DESCRIPTION:Beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR.\, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and fantastic Broadway musical. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre\, Shrek\, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance. Part romance and part twisted fairy tale\, Shrek JR. is an irreverently fun show with a powerful message for the whole family. \nOnce upon a time\, in a far away swamp\, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day\, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad\, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad\, he’s handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona\, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad\, but a fairytale wouldn’t be complete without a few twists and turns along the way. \nWith abundant opportunities for imaginative sets and costumes\, and a host of over-the-top roles for an expandable cast\, there’s a part for everyone in this dazzling adventure story. \nRated G \nClick here to get tickets.
