Redmond Reads: One Book, One Summer, One Redmond

Join us in creating community!! Redmond Library is hosting a community read we are calling, Redmond Reads: One Book, One Summer, One Redmond with the support of the Friends of the Redmond library and the City of Redmond. We are encouraging you to read and discuss with us The Lines that Make Us: Stories from Nathan’s Bus By Nathan Vass. Nathan’s book was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award in 2019.

Dubbed the nicest guy in Seattle, Nathan Vass is a Metro bus driver in Seattle, a blogger, photographer and film maker. Visit nathanvass.com to find out more and to read his blog.

On the 1st and 15th of each month visit kcls.org/redmondreads. We have already and will post a video of Nathan discussing one of the chapters of his book we have chosen to highlight. Each chapter is an encounter with a bus passenger. Though some encounters are challenging Nathan’s philosophy is that everyone deserves respect and compassion.

Between each posting we have time to read the latest chapters, watch the videos and then try completing a Community Challenge! Connect with your neighbors about each chapter. Share how the book inspires you. Talk about how communities can apply and practice compassion for all.
