SUMMARY:VALA Eastside Presents: Somatic Ekphrasis Workshop with Kari Tai
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, Redmond Association of Spokenword (RASP) board member Kari Tai will guide participants in creating a “somatic ekphrasis”–style verbal response to works in VALA Eastside’s current exhibit\, “Art from the Founder’s Collection.” The focus is on the bodily\, visceral\, and physical experience of engaging with art—translating visual\, tactile\, and emotional sensations into language. Participants who feel moved to do so will then create simple gestures inspired by key words from their writing. No prior writing or movement experience is required. \nThis event is free and open to everyone. Please join us! \nAbout VALA Eastside \nVenues for Artists in the Local Area (VALA Eastside) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization based in Redmond\, WA\, committed to connecting artists to artists\, artists to the community\, and the community to art. \nClick here for more info
