Oscar Mendez, inspired by his family’s struggles and culinary roots, founded Taqueria Los Chilangos. After emigrating to the U.S. and learning the restaurant trade from dishwasher to lead cook, Oscar pursued his dream by selling authentic Mexican street food at farmers markets. Despite setbacks, including a financial crisis and business hurdles, Oscar’s perseverance led to the launch of his now-successful food truck, offering his signature al pastor and street tacos. With the support of his wife, the business grew into a beloved local favorite.
