Redmond Historical Society Saturday Speaker Series: ‘Bicycling in Redmond – Past, Present, and Future’
April 13 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Cycling club president Joe Matthews gives talk on Redmond’s favorite pastime
The Redmond Historical Society concludes the Spring ’24 season of its popular Saturday Speaker Series with a talk on “Bicycling in Redmond – Past, Present, and Future.” Joe Matthews, president of the Redmond Cycling Club, will give a short history of that organization.
Redmond is home to several major bike shops. And, with an extensive network of parks and trails, on-street bike lanes and off-street trails for easy access to downtown, neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and even to other cities, it is “one of a small, but growing number of cities designated as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.” (Redmond.gov).
Join the Society to learn how Redmond has earned the designation of “Bicycle Capital of the Northwest” ― from Derby Days races to “Sufferin’ Summits” to Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day (RAMROD) to the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome at Marymoor Park.
