Celebrating Welcoming Week in Redmond

Welcoming Week is a time to celebrate what happens when individuals come together, share their stories, and make space for one another. In Redmond, Welcoming Week brings people from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences together through art, music, storytelling, and community events.

What Is Welcoming Week?

Welcoming Week is a celebration that brings the community together to build connections and create a stronger sense of belonging. The goal is to create communities where people of all backgrounds feel valued, included, and welcome. Welcoming Week is for everyone. It is an opportunity to learn about cultures different from your own, celebrate the traditions that make a community unique, and discover the experiences and stories that connect us here in Redmond.

Welcoming Week Experiences

This year, Redmond offers several opportunities to celebrate culture and community. Whether you connect through art, music, storytelling, or advocacy, there are plenty of ways to participate.

Arts in the Park
- September 12 & September 19 | 4:00–8:00 p.m. at Redmond Downtown Park
- Presented by OneRedmond, Arts in the Park offers a chance to enjoy creativity and community in one of Redmond’s most popular gathering spaces. Bring friends and family, explore the arts, and spend an evening connecting with your community.
Stories We Share: The Courage to Connect
- September 16 | 5:00–7:00 p.m. at The Together Center
- Hosted by the City of Redmond, Stories We Share: The Courage to Connect brings the 2026 Welcoming Week theme to life through storytelling and conversation. It’s an opportunity to listen to the experiences of others, reflect on what connects us, and consider how we can create a more welcoming community together.
Downtown Redmond Art Walk
- September 17 | 4:00–7:00 p.m. at Redmond Downtown Park & participating Downtown businesses
- Explore Redmond through a creative lens during the Downtown Redmond Art Walk. Visit participating businesses, discover local artwork, and experience the creativity that makes Downtown Redmond unique. It’s a great way to combine community connection with an evening of exploring local shops and gathering spaces.
Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition
- September 18 | 9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. at Centro Cultural Mexicano
- Celebrate Hispanic culture and creativity at Centro Cultural Mexicano’s Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition. With National Hispanic Heritage Month beginning September 15, the exhibition offers an opportunity to appreciate the art, history, and cultural contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. Redmond recognizes and celebrates these contributions throughout the year, with Hispanic Heritage Month providing an additional opportunity to learn and connect.
Community Sing at Redmond Library
- September 20 | 12:30–1:30 p.m. at Redmond Library
- Music has a way of bringing people together—even when we don’t share the same language or background. Join Columbia Choirs at the Redmond Library for a Community Sing and experience the simple joy of making music together.
Eastside Immigrant Youth Advocacy Day
- September 20 | 1:00–5:00 p.m. at The Together Center
- Hosted by Africans on the Eastside, The Circle, and Eastside For All, Eastside Immigrant Youth Advocacy Day provides an opportunity to learn, connect, and engage with issues affecting immigrant youth and their communities. The event is another example of how Welcoming Week can extend beyond celebration to encourage civic engagement, advocacy, and meaningful community participation.
